A Short Safari in Tanzania – Trip Report by Dan

My wife and I booked a three day Taste of Tanzania with Arno as our first Safari experience. From the start, communication was great and we received quick and up to date information. The booking process was seamless and have no negatives about it. Just as a suggestion, I would recommend letting bookies know that Tanzania Experience is an entity of Elefant Tours, and you are in fact paying them. This obviously is no problem but it could save a few questions.

The Safari Experience itself was great. Whilst this was our first ever safari and we have no basis to compare, I would not swap Michael (our guide) for anyone. With over 10 years experience, there was not a single question over the three days that he was unable to answer. He was friendly and knew the best locations – in fact whenever there were cats about, he was always the first on the scene and throughout the day he had several guides stopping him and asking him where he had seen the Lions etc.

Our Safari include:

  • Tarangire National Park where we saw plenty of Elephants, Giraffes, Gazelles (etc) Monkeys and even some Lions.
  • Lake Manyara National Park where due to the thick vegetation we did not see many animals
  • Ngorongoro Crater – the highlight. Here we saw an abundance of Lions, Hippos, Buffalo, and even a Rhino. This certainly made up for Lake Manyara.

Whilst obviously every visit to each National Park is different, we spoke to a few people of different tours and they all seem to say the same about Lake Manyara. Perhaps a additional day in Tarangire National Park would have been better.

The vehicle was extremely spacious for two people, with a roof that opened for the best views. There was a fridge available and drinking water provided throughout the safari.

The accommodation at both Ngorongoro Farmhouse and Lake Burungi was spectacular and well worth a visit even if you are not on Safari. Staff are very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. The grounds are perfectly cared for, swimming pools available at both and the food was faultless. I would however avoid the gift shop in the Farmhouse as we found it extremely pricey.

All in all a fantastic experience and would recommend Tanzania Experience to anyone. 5 out of 5
