The lodge has been described as an excellent spot to see elephants with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. The large mid-range lodge is fenced and offers accommodation in chalets, a restaurant and a wide range of activities including sundowner trips and bush dinners.
Ol Tukai Lodge is in the Amboseli National Park in Kenya. It is 250km from Nairobi (by road) or just 30min by air.
The lodge is set in a grove of acacia trees. Centrally in this country-retreat style lodge is the reception area. There is a restaurant (opening up to a veranda with views of the mountain), two bars, a viewing deck, gift shop and currency exchange. There is a guest lounge with board games, small library and pool with sun terrace. The property also has a small clinic, chapel, conference room and children can be entertained by a Masai story teller. The Elephant Research Centre is situated on the property. Other facilities include a tennis court, kids’ entertainment, playground, spa and a business centre. Conference and weddings can be hosted and car rental and shuttle services can be arranged. Accommodation is in 80 rooms in small chalets.
There are 80 twin rooms including two for disabled guests. The chalet-style rooms – built from stone and timber – are elegantly furnished with African artefacts. Rooms have mosquito nets, en suite bathrooms and a private terrace with views of the wetlands or Mt Kilimanjaro. Kibo Villa is ideal for small groups and has a full kitchen, a Jacuzzi, barbeque area and three en suite bedrooms.
