Silayo grew up in Moshi at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro. On safaris with his parents and siblings, he fell in love with nature and wildlife at an early age. Lake Manyara, Arusha National Park and Ngorongoro Crater are not only places of childhood memories, but Silayo’s office under the open sky. Starting his guiding career as English to German translator, he graduated from his Wildlife Management studies to become a safari guide in 2006. Since 2013, he is part of our team. One of his favourite parks is Tarangire National Park where you can spot wildlife along the river year-round. During the rainy season, when the grass is high and spotting wildlife is more challenging, Silayo’s expert knowledge of Tanzania’s national parks leads him off the beaten track to locate animals in unusual places. A sighting of twenty giraffes chasing a lion is one he will remember forever.
What our guests say about Silayo:
“I’d like to say thank you once again to Silayo. He was a very good guide and driver and always managed to find the best spots to observe the wildlife.” Barbara from Germany
