DIFFERENT CAMPING STYLES IN TANZANIA

A true adventure – your home in the wild awaits on our Tanzania camping safari! To make your camping experience not only an authentic but also a comfortable one we have put great thought into choosing the right equipment for your trip. You can choose to go on a Mobile Explorer Camp safari where you will stay on private campsites and enjoy a bit more comfort and luxury. Or you can choose to go on an Adventure Camping safari, where you will stay on public campsites having a back-to-basics experience. Both options are “fully-serviced” – our camp crew will take care of all the chores, you just enjoy the experience.

Private and public camping - what to expect

Mobile Explorer Camping – just you and the great outdoors on private campsites

On Mobile Explorer Camp safaris, you stay at private special campsites which are located inside the national parks. The campsites are not fenced. What’s more: There will be no other travellers, you have the campsite all to yourself. Instead of sleeping on mattresses on the floor, you will sleep in a comfortable field bed with proper linen and blankets. The dome tents are 3 m x 3 m and 2.1 m high (9.8 feet x 9.8 feet m and 6.9 feet high). They have in-built mosquito netting and are of course waterproof.

Towels, solar lamps, and bedside tables, washing tripod and director-style camp chairs are also part of the equipment. The camp provides a bush toilet and bucket shower with heated water prepared by your camp crew. You dine in the mess tent or under the open sky, enjoying meals freshly prepared by your camp chef. Everything will be taken care of. You just sit back and enjoy the nature around you.

Being alone in the bush with only wild animals as neighbours is the true luxury of a Mobile Explorer Camping safari.

You will sleep on comfortable field beds with real bedding.

You dine inside a mess tent or optionally under the open skies.

Your camp is equipped with a bucket shower and bush toilet. Warm water is prepared by the camp crew.

Your camp chef will prepare fresh meals and can accommodate dietary requests.

Adventure Camping – a back-to-basics experience on public campsites

On our Adventure Camping Safaris, you will stay in public campsites, located inside the park or on the outskirts. The campsites in the parks are not fenced and it is not unlikely that you may find elephants wandering between the tents or bump into antelopes on your way to the shower.

Accommodation will be in 2-person-tents (2.5m x 2.5m and 1.8m high | 8.2 feet x 8.2 feet and 5.9 feet high) which are waterproof and come with built-in mosquito nets at their entrances and windows. 5 cm thick sleeping mattresses will be provided by us, as well as robust camping furniture such as tables, safari chairs, functional cutlery and crockery.

You will be accompanied by a skilled safari cook who will take care of your well-being. He will prepare all meals, often including a packed meal for a picnic lunch. The camp and food will be set up and made for you, so that you just lean back, relax and enjoy your holidays.
