Tanzania Day Trips & One Day Safaris
Adventures in a day
Day trips and one day safaris
In Tanzania you can choose from multiple day trips and one-day safaris. Our excursions are for people who are short on time, yet want an authentic Tanzanian experience.
On day safaris to Arusha National Park and Tarangire National Park you can see abundant wildlife in incredible landscapes. Whilst Kilimanjaro National Park offers an unforgettable one-day walk to the Shira Plateau – Mount Kilimanjaro’s lowest peak.
On cultural excursions, you can learn how women’s groups process coffee and cheese to sell. A half-day spice tour of an agritourism farm in Zanzibar is an experience for all the senses.
On the day of the excursion, we collect you, ensure you are well-fed, and return you safely before sunset.

Accommodations
FROM CITY HOTELS TO COZY LODGES IN NATURE
Arusha is an active city with numerous intimate places to stay. It is a good starting point for a day safari to Tarangire or Arusha National Park.
Moshi, a town northeast of Arusha, has great accommodation that connects you to nature. It is also the perfect base for day trips to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park.
In Zanzibar’s historic city of Stone Town, you have plenty of options to choose from and experience the unique flair of the local culture. A short drive outside the city, you can join spice tours on a day trip.
What to expect on Tanzania day trips?
Our Tanzania day trips start from Arusha, Usa River or the town of Moshi.
In a short time from Arusha, you can visit extraordinary national parks and observe the diversity of wildlife or experience an unforgettable guided walk.
One of our expert guides will arrive in a 4×4 Toyota Landcruiser to collect you from your accommodation in the morning. You will be briefed about the exciting day ahead, and the adventure will begin.
The parks we visit can be reached within 1 to 3 hours. Arusha National Park and Mount Meru are just about one hour from Arusha. Mount Kilimanjaro National Park is 2.45 hours away, and the wildlife haven of Tarangire National Park can be reached in just over 3 hours.
Day safaris are rich experiences. Take in the sounds and smells and colours during a half-day hike on the Shira Plateau. Or see one of Tanzania’s largest elephant populations at Tarangire National Park.
All of our day trips include a picnic lunch and cold drinking water. You can choose to be dropped off at Kilimanjaro International Airport, at Arusha Airport or your accommodation.
In Zanzibar, our spice tours start from Stone Town or your beach hotel.
Different types of day trips in Tanzania
Tanzania days trips occur in three different ways:
One-day safaris in Tanzania
Arusha National Park day trips: Experience a true taste of safari: Within an hour of leaving your hotel, you will meet a park ranger who will take you on an unforgettable walk in the wild. With amazing views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, you walk past herds of buffalo and giraffes to Tululusia waterfall and Ngurdoto crater. After a delicious picnic lunch, you game-watch from the comfort of our vehicle.
Tarangire National Park day trips: Wildlife lovers will relish seeing elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, and numerous antelopes. The birdlife, with ~550 resident species, is incredible. You will leave this beautiful park, with its baobab trees and meandering river, with a true sense of the diversity of Tanzania’s wildlife.
One day guided walk in Tanzania
Shira Plateau day trips: One of the best one-day trips in Tanzania is a hike to the Shira Plateau – the oldest and lowest of Mount Kilimanjaro’s three peaks. Your hike begins at 3500m above sea level. Enjoy outstanding views of Kibo, Kilimanjaro’s highest peak, during an easy-paced walk to the Shira Crater. Whilst savouring a delicious picnic, take in the vistas of both Tanzania and Kenya.
Half-day spice tours in Zanzibar: This is a fascinating walking tour in an abundant food forest to learn, with all your senses, how spices are grown, harvested, and processed. You also learn about the spices’ influence on the island’s dark history. The tour concludes with a taste-testing of multiple fruits and spices.
One day cultural experience in Tanzania
Meru Experience day trip: Travel to the slopes of Mount Meru to visit a women’s group and enjoy a unique experience. Here, you see how they grow and process coffee and how they make a variety of cheeses. Then taste, savour and delight in a traditional lunch.
What can I see and experience on a one-day safari in Tanzania?
You will be amazed by the incredible wildlife and landscapes that you can witness in a single day in Tanzania. Arusha National Park and Tarangire National Park differ, but both offer wonderful experiences. You can see 4 out of the big five at Tarangire National Park. In comparison, predator numbers are low in Arusha National Park. However, this enables you to see the wildlife up close during a guided walk.
Two-day safaris
An overnight safari opens up the opportunity to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ngorongoro Crater on our two-day safari.
Having visited Tarangire National Park on day one, you continue west to stay in a beautiful lodge in the town of Karatu in the Ngorongoro Highlands. The following morning, you descend into the crater to experience world-class wildlife-watching with the possibility of seeing a black rhino and many more wildlife species.
After two exceptional days on safari, we return you to your accommodation in Arusha.

We really enjoyed our day trip to Arusha National Park last week. Our guide, John, was knowledgable, patient, as well as a sharp animal spotter. This trip is a great introduction to Tanzania and its beauty – I can’t recommend it enough. Everything about our day was perfect – thank you for a wonderful memory!JD One-Day Safari | US
